Spotted: Lauren Conrad

Lauren Conrad, hanging out with boyfriend Kyle Howard at MyHouse in L.A. for the Havaianas and Details cocktail party. As one of the main guests of honor, Kyle spent much of the night working the room whilst Lauren gossiped with a girlfriend, but no fear: he didn't ignore her. Kyle made sure she always had a drink and showered her with kisses.

Meanwhile, LC's best friend Lo Bosworth has said of the couple, "They are really good together. Sometimes it takes somebody who treats you right to show you there's something else out there."

Catch more of Lauren in this month's Cosmopolitan.

Lauren Conrad Is Actually A Nice Person

This past week, Lauren Conrad, the 22-year-old star of 'The Hills', released her latest beauty collection for Mark cosmetics - and also managed to win over Glamour magazine's Petra Guglielmetti, who shared her thoughts on the reality television starlet.

Guglielmetti said:

  • LC's hair really IS perfect
  • She's even thinner, shorter and more tanned than she looks on TV
  • She's extremely well-spoken, despite the inane conversations we see on 'The Hills', and she recited loads of stats from memory when talking about the cosmetic line's new charitable ventures
  • She seems shy and sweet, and hardly stuck-up at all - she walked Guglielmetti to the toilet herself, even though ten publicists were on hand who would normally have done so

Poll Results In: Who Are You Most Interested In Reading About?

Four-hundred and thirty of you voted, and the results are now in.

1. With 44% of the votes, Lauren Conrad is who you most of you are interested in reading about.

2. In second place - Laguna Beach alum and party girl Kristin Cavallari, who 24% of you would like to hear more about.

3. Coming in at third is 'The Hills' in general - 16% of you like reading about Whitney, Audrina, Lo and the ins and outs of life in LA for our favorite starlets.

4. In fourth place with 11% of the votes are the cast of Newport Harbor.

5. And last (and perhaps least), Heidi Montag. The life of Spencer Pratt's arm candy seems to interest just 3% of you!

Lauren Conrad is Cool With Brody's New Girlfriend

[E! Online] - Despite recent tabloid covers to the contrary, Lauren Conrad is cool with Cora Skinner, Brody Jenner's new girlfriend.

Both girls, as well as Brody, were at Dallas Austin's Rowdy clothing line party last night at the Lisa Kline Men boutique on Robertson Boulevard, and there clearly was no bad blood between them. Lauren and Cora hugged hello and chatted for a few minutes while Brody talked to his boys.

But apparently there's still beef between former besties Brody and Spencer Pratt. Brody said they aren't speaking now, but "you never know" if a reconciliation could be in the works.

Also hangin' at the party was JC Chasez, who continued to refute rumors that he and Chace Crawford are more than just friends. "We have the same manager, and that's why we're at the same events," he told me. "We get sent to the same stuff all the time."

One thing JC did confess? He's a fan of Chace's show, Gossip Girl.

"Lauren Conrad's a Walking Contradiction"

[Canada.com] - Lauren Conrad is a walking contradiction. As the star of the hit MTV reality show The Hills, there are always two sides to Conrad's life: the regular girl who goes to school and interns at Teen Vogue, and the reality superstar whose every move is recorded and scrutinized by the media. She doesn't really like reality stars, but she sees nothing wrong with being one herself. She hates it when people use the media for their own gain but has no reservations about doing it. But the biggest contradiction about Lauren Conrad is that she doesn't see what’s so strange about any of this.

In person, the 22-year-old is even skinnier than she looks on television, with perfect hair, carefully-applied makeup and legs that appear to go all the way up to her neck. She is also perfectly composed, accompanying every statement with a sparkling smile. Conrad never really criticizes anything; it's more that she thinks certain parts of her life are a little peculiar. For instance, she is not allowed to talk about anything that has happened in her life that has not yet appeared on
The Hills, even if it has already been heavily covered by the press – but instead of finding this irritating and absurd, like a regular person would, Conrad just accepts that her Hills
life has to come before her actual life.

"We find ourselves in a situation where things are being reported months and months before they show up on The Hills," says Conrad. "Media will report on our everyday lives, but the thing is, our everyday lives
is
the television show, so it gives away what's going to happen."

Another strange thing about
The Hills is that a show focusing on Conrad's life makes no mention of the biggest part of her life – the show itself. While filming the first season of The Hills, Conrad's celebrity was practically a non-issue, but now, a few years later, the show still treats her as though she were a normal girl leading an anonymous life in Los Angeles when anyone who picks up a copy of People or Us Weekly
knows that Conrad is anything but.

The Hills
also never covers her fashion line, the highly publicized Lauren Conrad Collection that has just been picked up by high-end Canadian department store Holt Renfrew. Conrad has been relying on media attention to make her line a success, but somehow, she doesn't find anything strange about the disconnect between her actual life and the life that's presented on the show.

"That's the way the show's meant to be. It's meant to be an unscripted drama," says Conrad. "[
The Hills
] does not address the celebrity that comes with it, and I probably would not be able to do [the Lauren Conrad Collection] without the celebrity that comes with the show. They chose not to include it and I didn't really want to include it because I try to separate the line and the show."

An odd moment comes when Conrad talks about the development of her fashion line: she begins speaking in first person plural without specifying who else was involved. It's as though the Lauren Conrad Collection had been put together by the Borg.

"We were looking for an opportunity for a long time," she says. "It took us a while to find it. Basically, we were looking for someone who would give us complete creative control."

You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile.

Her shift in pronouns is clearly another way Conrad tries to separate her real life from her
Hills life. It's a subconscious acknowledgement that the person she is on the show is a completely different person from who she is off the show. Lauren Conrad the fashion designer is part of a group; Lauren Conrad from The Hills
is just a regular girl. As soon as the conversation returns to her life on the reality show, Conrad goes back to using the first person singular.

"Dating [on the show] is hard because, personally, I don't really want to date a guy that wants to be on a reality show, but those are the only kind of guys I can date," she says.

This seems at least a little hypocritical. Conrad thinks she's too good for people who want to be on television when her entire career is based on the success of her own reality show?

"A lot of people aren't open to the idea of being on a reality show and having their first date documented," she continues. "Anyone who's watched the show knows that we don't always make the guys look good. We very rarely make the guys look good."

Even with this statement, Conrad narrows her eyes at the mention of Gavin Beasley, a
Teen Vogue model she briefly dated earlier this season. After the episode portrayed him as boring and a little bit dim, Beasley told VH1's Best Week Ever
all about his experience filming the show, claiming parts of it were staged.

"He sold his story to the press!" Conrad marvels incredulously.

Yet, this is the same girl who admitted to using the press to publicize her fashion line.

But Conrad is one of the few people who needs these contradictions in order to succeed. Television audiences began watching
The Hills to see Conrad's regular life; in order to continue, the show needs to continue presenting that life, whether or not it still exists. To be Lauren from The Hills, Conrad needs to be outraged when people betray her to the press, but to be a successful fashion designer, she needs to take advantage of the degree of celebrity she's been given. Conrad is a smart girl and she knows exactly when which Lauren is needed, no matter how frequently she has to shift between them. She may be a walking contradiction, but if not for the contradictions, she wouldn't be able to walk at all.

Lauren Conrad Doesn't Want To Share Her Political Views

Lauren Conrad was spotted with long-term buddy Lo Bosworth in West Hollywood this past Sunday as the twosome popped into Whole Foods for some groceries and flowers before hitting up Blockbuster to pick up a few movies.
The 22-year-old star of MTV's The Hills has recently declined to comment on her political views and which politician she's endorsing for this year's election, unlike rival and ex-bff Heidi Montag. The New York Times questioned Lauren after Heidi shared her thoughts with Us Weekly, telling them that she plans to back John McCain because she's "a Republican and McCain has a lot of experience".

Instead of sharing her thoughts, Conrad got her rep to tell the newspaper that she "believes in a private ballot but encourages everyone to vote."

Lauren On Her Career: "It's Bittersweet"

[FemaleFirst.co.uk] - Nicky Hilton, The Pussycat Dolls and Lauren Conrad are set to be the stars of LA Fashion Week causing anger among the real designers.

"Sure, every celebrity and his brother wants to be a fashion designer," said veteran designer Sue Wong to Canadian Press.

"It's not like anybody can pick it up and do it. It's a science. You need to know fit and construction," adds Wong who has been working in the industry since 1968 but won't be showing her Fall 2008 collection at LA Fashion Week this year.

Wong is joined by Kevan Hall and Ed Hardy who will also be absent from Culver City's Smashbox photo studios next week.

The Hills star Lauren Conrad disagrees with Wong's opinion on celebrities cashing in on their fame by trying their hand at designing.

"I think my involvement in reality television has played a bittersweet role in my career," Conrad said to The Associated Press. "If I wasn't on TV I wouldn't have my line, but because I'm on TV people don't take me seriously."

"People in the entertainment industry try to capitalize on their 15 minutes in every way possible," she continued. "The difference is I want a line that lasts longer than 15 minutes. It's what I've always wanted to do and what I hope to continue with when I'm done with entertainment," she adds.

What do you think? Should celebrities be taken seriously as designers? Or are they just cashing in on their fame?

Kristin Makes Lauren Jealous

The night before the New York Giants upset the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII, Arizona was jam-packed with booze and babes. One of whom seemed rather intent on getting back into celebrity news headlines and, perhaps, making her former high school rival jealous!

During the Maxim party at the Stone Rose Lounge, Kristin Cavallari flirted with Entourage star Kevin Connolly, and was “all over Kevin until she saw Brody Jenner walk in,” says a spy from the New York Post.
“Kristin Cavallari dropped Kevin for Brody Jenner and started kissing him … that is, before she went to find photographers to take pictures of them. It was all a ploy to make [her Laguna Beach nemesis] Lauren Conrad jealous.”

Kristin Cavallari cozies up to her ex, Brody Jenner (left).Kristin, of course, used to date Brody Jenner. Then after they broke up, he and Lauren Conrad were an item, as depicted on The Hills. But forget Lauren Conrad here. What about Cora Skinner, Brody’s reported new girlfriend? What’s she gonna think? First Linsday Lohan and now this? She’ll get the crazy idea that Brody’s some kind of player.

Would YOU attend her fashion show?

Lauren Conrad Hits The Shops

[Celebrity-Gossip.net] - When you’re young, rich, and famous, shopping means not having to look for bargains and sales. And Lauren Conrad spent the afternoon yesterday hitting up the shops on Melrose Avenue.

The Hills hottie was spotted checking out some gear at Urban Outfitters, as well as Bleu on her retail therapy excursion in Los Angeles. The rain certainly didn’t dampen her desire to spend money!

And if you’re anxiously awaiting some new Hills footage, you don’t have long to wait. Reportedly there will be new episodes airing in March on MTV.
As for the new Season of The Hills, it seems there will be some new developments on the horizon. According to LC’s pal Audrina Partridge, “New Year, new house, new jobs, new boys, new everything. It’s gonna be fun!”

Oh, and did we mention that Lauren “Lo” Bosworth will be getting in on the fun?

Lauren Conrad Uncertain About the Future of 'The Hills'

[Celebrity-Gossip.net] - When you’re young, beautiful and famous, going out to lunch becomes more of an event and less of a daily routine. And Lauren Conrad was spotted yesterday in West Hollywood with her gal pals grabbing some grub the day after hitting the red carpet at the Cloverfield premiere. The Hills hottie has recently started questioning how much longer she wants to do the MTV reality gig. When asked about her future on the show, LC replied, “I don’t know. I’m just having fun with it now.”

And while being on camera 24/7 can be a serious hassle, Lauren confessed that she has grown to love it. “We had two weeks off during Christmas, and it was really nice to have a break. But at the same time you miss the crew. The crew members are really good friends of ours so it’s kind of cool to get back into it.” With her budding design career and actress gig, Conrad says she keeps plenty busy. “I have a lot on my plate right now, but I’m having fun with it. I like being busy.”

And her plans for the future? "Honestly, I can't tell you because I haven't decided yet. I'm looking. I really like working backstage at fashion shows, so I'm looking kind of in production. Lauren Moving Out of The Hills!

The Hills starlet Lauren Conrad has reportedly purchased a $2 million four-bedroom four-bathroom mini-mansion on the Hollywood flats, just off Sunset Boulevard, and is set to move out of her current Hills home. The 21-year-old has been house-hunting for almost a year and has finally found her dream home - a Spanish style vila just minutes from LA nightclub Hyde. A reality realtor told PageSix.com, "The house is beautiful inside and out, Lauren has found herself a gem. This area is so happening right now."

According to sources, Lauren 'fell in love' with the house the moment she stepped through the door and said, "I want it!"

Conrad is set to move into the luxury home in about six weeks and is rumoured to be hosting a huge housewarming party (all captured on camera for the next season of The Hills).
